The Advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution Workshop builds on the skills you acquired in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Workshop. It will improve your dispute resolution skills and give you the skills to mediate professionally or mediate within your organization. You will learn how to help people resolve their differences, improve relationships and communication, mediate complex cases, deal with harassment issues, deal with challenging parties, address power imbalances and move positional people towards agreement.  You will even gain the skills to plan and implement a dispute resolution system in your organization.   • Handle inflammatory conduct
  • Mediate harassment cases
  • Deal with emotional people
  • Deal with power imbalances
  • Facilitate communications in a charged atmosphere
  • Build relationships
  • Transition from gathering interests to generating options
  • Deal with people who lie in mediations
  • Make sure people stick to a deal
  • Mediate when people have different versions of the facts
  • Mediate distributive problems (a fixed pie) when parties do not desire an ongoing relationship
  • Close the gaps between parties and move them through to closure
  • Help parties craft appropriate settlement agreements

Workshop includes 9 mediation case studies and 1 video. Experienced coaches observe mediation case studies and give feedback.  You will receive immediate and objective feedback, and insight into crucial mediation skills. Participants will be given a copy of the best-selling book, Alternative Dispute Resolution For Organizations, written by Allan Stitt.

Discount Policy

  • If your organization registers 5 or more participants at one time for any of our public workshops, we will provide a 15% discount for each of those registrations. In addition, your organization will also receive 15% off on any additional registrations received in the same calendar year.
  • Alternately, if your organization submits 6 registrations for any of our public workshops during a calendar year, we will provide a 50% discount on the 6th registration. In addition, your organization will then receive a 15% discount for any additional registrations received in the same year.

ADR Institute of Ontario

Completion of the ADR and Advanced ADR workshops will satisfy the educational requirements for membership in the ADR Institute of Ontario.  To attain a Qualified Mediator Designation (Q.Med) in Ontario, you will have to complete 40 hours of basic mediation training and 40 hours of specialized mediation and related training.
